UPC Database
Second Chance Grocery has spent years collecting thousands of UPC codes, and relating them to the brands, items, and sizes they represent. To date, we have over 24,000 individual items (no duplicates) in our UPC database.
Usually grocery UPC databases are available only to grocery stores who are part of a larger network, and are distributed only to members who are served by the distributor for those items. By collecting our own UPC information, we have gotten an advantage over other salvage groceries, and have been able to use out database in computerizing our store. Scanning groceries makes us much more efficient, and eliminates the problems associated with individually marked grocery items. Our pricing is consistent from shipment to shipment, and our customers know that every item marked at a certain price will be that price regardless of when it arrived on our shelves. Much like the Big Stores, we have control over our pricing, and we can re-price entire lots of items with a single change in our database. Lowering a price on 50 of the same item is a five second job for us, not a ten minute job as it is for the stores where items are individually marked.
The database we use is the result of our own research, and careful compilation of UPC codes, brand names, descriptions, etc. It's the same database we use with our computer each day for making sales and entering store inventory.
This grocery database is available for sale only through Second Chance Grocery. (It is not available in the North Mississippi area. Sorry. We have to protect our own market.) Thousands of hours have been spent in creating this database. Details and pricing are available by emailing Lynn@SecondChanceGrocery.Com, or calling Lynn at 662-320-9562.
