Second Chance Grocery received a new shipment of grocery items Wednesday, January 15. It'll be Saturday before all of it's out on the shelves.
Here are some of the more interesting looking bargains that came in this shipment. (Most of the shipment hasn't even been unpacked as yet, so we've no idea what all will be on the shelves this time tomorrow.)
Betty Crocker Cinnamon Streusel Quick Bread Mix, 18.3 oz., .75 (reg. $2.49)
Betty Crocker Banana Quick Bread Mix, 13.9 oz., .75 (reg. $1.99)
Pasta Anytime 3 Minute Meal (many varieties, including Rotini with cheese sauce). $1.50 (reg. $3.39)
These make great microwave lunch meals.
Wyler's Drink Mix (think Kool-Aid), Cherry, Lemonade, etc. .10 each (reg. .33 each) We've got thousands of packages of these. I noticed the lemonade flavor packets has all natural lemon flavors, no artificial flavors, which is unusual for this type drink mix.
Ken's Steak House Creamy Tomato Bacon Salad Dressing, 16 oz. $1.25 (reg. $2.99) All of the Ken's Steak House products are top quality, and taste great.
Kraft Roka Blue Cheese Dressing, 24 oz (the BIG bottle), $2.00, (reg. $4.93) This is one of my all time favorite bottled dressings. These bottles are undented.
Kraft Cucumber Ranch Dressing, 8 oz. (the LITTLE bottle), .75 (reg. $1.69) I haven't tried this one yet, but I like Ranch, and I love cucumbers. It's got to be good. These were ready to go out Wedneday night, but won't be on the shelves until first thing Thursday.
Bigelow Orange and Spice Herb Tea, 20 bags. $1.25 (reg. $2.99) This is the classic herb tea, with rose hips. spices, hibiscus, orange peel, roasted chickory, and natural orange flavors. Good stuff for cold weather.
Celestial Seasonings Iced Tea (Raspberry Ice, Summer Ice, etc.) 48 bags. $2.50 (reg. $5.29) These iced tea blends have caffeine (it's real tea) with extra natural flavors. A good change from the usual iced tea.
Central American Blend Coffee, 8.8 oz., $1.50 (reg. N/A) This might be the buy of the lot. This is CCM brand, made by Caracolillo of Tampa, FL. Usually available only in Florida and in specialty coffee shops, this is roasted by Caracolillo, which is now a third generation family business, which started in 1936. Suffice it to say this is the ONLY source for CCM coffee in Starkville, and when this batch is gone, well....................
Here are a few more things the boss thought were particularly good deals, and she wanted them mentioned:
Oregano $1.00 (reg. $6.29)
Baby Food .25/jar
Major Peters Bloody Mary Mix $1.50 (reg. $3.65)
Cake mixes .75 (all brands)
Brownie mixes $1 (all brands)
Stove Top Stuffing .50
Maxwell House Coffee $1.50
Fruit Blasters .50
Carb Bars (all brands, incl. protein bars) .35 each
Jumex Fruit Drinks .35 each (reg. .85 each). Most Jumex fruit drinks are at least 24% fruit juice, compared to the usual USA fruit drink which is usually about 3-5% juice. Jumex is made in Mexico for the Mexican palate, so most of these are exotic to us gringos. Mango, papaya, guava, pear (pear's better than it sounds), etc. The strawberry-banana mix is pretty good, too.
