SECOND CHANCE GROCERY NEWSLETTER               FEB 4, 2005

Every Now And Then

Every now and then we leave the kids at the store unattended, only to come back and find a newsletter's been written.  So, here's Amanda's newsletter debut.  (We'll try to keep a closer eye on them in the future......... honest.)

Amanda's Newsletter

As the newest employee of the Second Chance, I have spent most of my days here figuring out how things work.  I came here in August of last year, when I started my college life at MSU.  Not only have I had to get used to living on my own and going to class when I dont have anyone MAKING me, but I also have gotten used to the idea of CHEAP food.  And what better place to get cheap food than Second Chance!  Work here is fun, and ALWAYS interesting!  My first shipment will never be forgotten [insert evil laugh here&.no....just playing!].  I am finally getting used to where things go (so I dont have to bug Ben), how much stuff costs (so I dont have to bug Ben), and slowly but surely, I am getting accustomed to working with Ben and David.  Let's just say that they make this a very humorous job!  My next experience here at the Second Chance is the writing of the newsletter.  And after reading the past newsletters, I realized that one very important part of Second Chance has been left out&.the FREEZER!

So here goes

In the back of the store, at the end of the cereal and spice aisle, we have a deep freeze full of all sorts of good stuff.  [I know that it serves as a good lunch stop for us when we get hungry]  Here are some of the items that can be found inside

Chicken Tenders [breaded & delicious!   $10.95

Hot Wings  $12.25

Hamburger Patties (6 lbs-15 Patties)  $15.29

French Fries  $2.75

Shrimp (1 lb)  $4.49

Hot Pockets [all sorts of flavors]     $.89 a piece [$2 for 2 in other stores]

Pizza Stix    $.59

Bryan Bacon (1 lb)   $1.99

Bryan Sausage    $2.39

Bryan Hot Dogs   $1.50

Baby Lima Beans    $2.50

Breaded Okra    $2.50

Corn     $2.50

Butter Peas     $2.50

**NEW Breaded Corn Nuggets (2 lbs)     $3.79

Also we get fresh loaves of bread about every Tuesday and Friday, as well as fresh milk every week.  And we keep a drink cooler full of canned drinks, some that you may be familiar with [Pepsi, Crush, Slice, etc] and others that even we've never seen [Vess up Cola, Max Cola, etc].  And we are now getting Little Debbie products in that are reduced from normal store prices.

I am trying to think of things that we have a lot of, and maybe some interesting stuff that came in the last humongous, RECORD SIZE shipment for the Second Chance.

We have, as usual, a good selection of cereals and salad dressings.

We also have several varieties of snack drinks like Capri Sun, HI-C, and Shasta Shorts.  Yesterday, Lynn put together what she called afternoon snack bagsfor $2.00 that have 20 Nature Valley bars, Fruit and Yogurt bars, etc.

This shipment included a lot of non-food items, such as diapers, Ziploc bags, tin foil, etc.

Also it had a lot of cake mixes, cheesecake mixes, mac and cheese, and parmesan cheese.  And we still have a lot of cake decorations and decorating icing.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot the Nesquick, both Chocolate and Strawberry* <-my personal favorite.

And I think that's about it as far as stuff goes.  For sales, we have a bargain buggy in back with stuff that has been marked WAY down.  And in the front by the counter we have a buggy that is half price.  Also all pegboard items are half off.

That will do it for me and this newsletter!  Hope to see you in the store soon

Amanda

And So.......................

And so our Amanda makes her newsletter debut.  Amanda's on loan to us from her family in Ellisville.  While working at the store, she's also taking the opportunity to work on a degree at MSU.
I reckon she figured she was already in Starkville, so why not?
If you're out an about, drop by and visit with Amanda, David, Ben, or Lynn, have a cup of coffee, and browse awhile.  Lookin's still free.

All bitterness, anger and wrath, insult and slander must be removed from you, along with all wickedness. And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ. Eph 4::31-32
