SECOND CHANCE NEWSLETTER 3/22/03
Howdy. Each week our newsletter focuses on the things that really matter in the store, which is great bargains on good food. This week we'd like to do something a little different; we're going to tell a bit about the "Weird Aisle", the aisle all the way to the right as you enter the store, the aisle where all the non-food items are shelved.
Spring cleaning season is now here, and some of these items might make you life a lot better for only pocket change.....................
DUST CAESAR CEILING FAN DUSTER 'Fess up. You never really think about dusting your ceiling fans, do you? Well, neither do we, even though we have one in every room. There's now no excuse for dodging this simple task. This duster includes a four-piece handle that allows you to dust as high as 10 feet in the air, a microfiber cloth that's good for 150 washes (you'll lose it before you wear it out), and a clamp that holds the fan blades still so you can get the job done. For the cleaning-impaired, instructions are included. You can read about Texas Feathers, the company that makes the Dust Caesar brand, here: http://www.txfproducts.com/house.htm . Cheap fan dusters sell on the 'net for about $8.99 plus s/h, and the better ones sell for $21.95 plus s/h (the cheap 'net price), and Dust Caesar is as good as they come. Designed to last a lifetime, these are available at Second Chance for only $4 each. Now, that's dirt cheap.
MORE DUST CAESAR PRODUCTS We also have Dust Caesar Microfiber Cleaning Cloths and Soft, Lint-Free Dust Diapers for only $1.00 each, despite the usual retail of about five bucks at the Big Stores.
MARGE RETIRED. Remember Marge, who was always soaking her customers' hands in Palmolive dishwashing liquid in those old TV commercials? If her customers had known about Second Chance, they could have saved themselves the embarrassment of soaking in Palmolive on national TV. We've got Spontex "Hair Care" gloves and Spontex "Sheer Performance" gloves for only $1.00 a pair. These are latex-free, come in different sizes and colors, and are useful for protecting your skin from oils, acids, alkalis, grease, cleaning products, and elephants. (Okay, the package doesn't actually say "elephants", but we've noticed that when we use these gloves, our yard seems to be elephant-free. Coincidence? You be the judge....................)
DON'T FORGET THE SILVER Every good hostess and host knows that a flawless dinner event includes impeccably polished silver. Fortunately for most of us, we couldn't care less, since we never try to host "dinner events". Hyacinth Bucket might require polished silver, but for most of us, it's just too much work. Just on the off chance you'd like to pull out the family silver and not spend all day polishing it so it will look nice for a 30 minute meal, Second Chance has Connoisseurs Silver Wipes for a measly $2.00. The process is simple: wet the silver, wipe with the cloth, rinse, and towel dry. The silver is clean, and has a tarnish-resistant finish. One wipe cleans about 15 pieces of flatware. So, break out the silver, heat up the macaroni and cheese, and live it up!
MORE SPRING CLEANING SUPPLIES
Wright's Copper Cream is good for polishing your Revere-ware, tea pots, trays, or anything that needs a good polish. The deep discount internet price is usually about $3.99, Second Chance has it for $1.00 (that's a 75% savings over the internet price).
Wright's Brass Polish is a water-based liquid polish that allows you to polish, rinse, and dry. Eliminates the tedious and messy buffing necessary with petroleum-based products. It's only $1.50 at SCG.
Connoisseurs Silver Jewelry Cleaner makes it easy to keep your rings and other jewelry looking new in only 15 seconds. (For sterling silver only). No rubbing needed. Only two bucks.
Wright's Jewelry Care Much the same as the Silver Jewelry Cleaner above, though this works on gold and precious stones as well. While you may not have a lot of gold jewelry and diamonds that need to be cleaned regularly, your wedding ring does deserve a good cleaning every so often. Keep it looking new for only $1.00.
Mr. Metal Another metal cleaner, abrasive-free (no scratches), for all silver, brass, copper, etc. More of a kitchenware cleaner than a jewelry cleaner, though it does work on both. Use a bit of this before your mother-in-law comes over, and she'll think you hired a maid. It's only one dollar.
YUCK! WHAT'S THAT???? If your tap water elicits that response, it may be time to change the filter in your Pur water filter. Second Chance has new filter cartridges for the Pur Select Faucet Mounted Filters for only $6.00, a big savings over the Big Store price of $12.99.
DETAILS, DETAILS, DETAILS. Everybody has something around the house with a patch of price sticker residue on it, or smeared glue, etc. . We've got a great product to help with that detail. Un-Du Adhesive Remover gets the gunk off, and the $2.00 bottle will last a looooonnggggg time. Un-Du Sticker And Decal Remover (also $2.00) removes bumper stickers, tar and tree sap, gum, etc. Includes a handy scraper tool. Lastly, the Un-Do Candle Wax Remover makes unfortunate accidents with hot candle wax disappear. Works on porous and non-porous surfaces. Yeah, it's $2.00, too.
SHED SOME LIGHT ON THE SUBJECT How can you clean well if you can't see? We've got candelabra bulbs (big bulb, small base), two to the pack, for a buck a pack.
THE BUGS ARE COMING Prepare for the six-legged onslaught that spring brings. Hartz Flea Control capsules for dogs is $3.75. Be sure to but the package appropriate for your dog's size. If bugs bite you, we have an itch eraser called "After Bite". I forgot to get the price (duh), but it was cheap enough. Stock up on these anti-bug supplies while they're cheap and plentiful. When the bugs start to bite, you'll be at the mercy of the Big Stores and their high prices.
Thanks for subscribing.
"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Indeed, by faith our ancestors received approval. By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was made from things that are not visible." Hebrews 11:1-3
