Just Plumb Ridiculous

My favorite candy bar in the whole, wide world is a Mounds; second to that, a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup.   When I found out that Hershey's (the parent company of Reese's) had decided to tinker with the Reese's design, I thought to myself "Great, another "New Coke" fiasco".  Well, turns out the new design is only temporary, and Reese's is calling it a "Limited Edition".  That's silly, too.  ANY chocolate bar in my hands is a "limited edition", with an extremely short life span.

All the faldoral is about this:  Reese's has produced an inside-out peanut butter cup, witch chocolate on the inside, and the peanut butter on the outside.  Silly?  Yep.  Ridiculous?  I reckon.  Good tasting?  Massively.  Atkin's friendly?  Not much.

Second Chance, being the cutting edge emporium that it is, not has both the regular and the inside-out Reese's PBCs in stock. These bags of individually wrapped PBCs (about 15/bag) is only $1.50, or 10 cents per PBC.

Stop by, buy some of both, and then vote. (Yes, vote.  Read on.)  Visit http://www.hersheys.com/reeses/ and click on the "vote" button, to tell Hershey's which style you prefer.  Some lucky entrant may win a trip for four to Hershey, PA.   The Big Stores won't tell you about this, but here at SCG, we're looking out for your best interests.  Chocolate for cheap, and travel for free............  That's about as good as it gets.

DON'T FORGET TO PUT THE CAT OUT

Lynn's also got bags of assorted Kit Kat Miniatures (dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and white chocolate) for the same low price of a buck fifty.  Each bag has about 48 miniatures in it, so each bar would be only... only.... math....only..... okay, they're each really, really cheap.

WITH OR WITHOUT?  DECISIONS, DECISIONS.

Adobo Seasoning from McCormick is a high priced seasoning mix that's essential to Mexican cooking.  It's basically tumeric, cumin, salt, oregano, garlic, and onion mixed together in the right proportions.  Lots of flavor, little or no heat.  SCG has this LARGE bottle in two varieties, one with pepper, and one without.   Instead of $1.95 at the Big Store, pay only 99 cents at Second Chance.

SPEAKING OF MEXICAN COOKING

We're overstocked on Durkees Mexican Oregano.  To combat this and free up shelf space for the next big shipment (due next week), Lynn's cut this $6.29 bottle of oregano to only 25 cents.  That's right, you can now buy 25 bottles of oregano at SCG for what it would cost to buy just one of these bottles for full retail at the Big Stores.   Has she gone loco?  Maybe.........  But I'm not telling her.

(Need some mace?  It's the small jar, only 10 cents.  It's about the same as nutmeg.)

PASS THE RED STUFF, PLEASE

This is one of those sample items that probably won't make it back to the store.  San-J Tomato Pepper Sauce for steak and chicken looks and sounds too good.  What's it got in it?  Oh, let's see........ Tamari soy sauce, tomatoes, white vinegar, sugar, garlic, ginger, thyme, sage, red pepper, black pepper, celery seed, onion, and a bunch of other stuff. This is a thick, reed sauce about the consistency of A-1 Sauce, and I'm already dreaming up something to put it on.

This Japanese sauce has Tamari soy sauce as it's main ingredient.  Here's what the San-J people have to say about Tamari soy sauce:  "Due to the high concentration of soybeans, Tamari ferments differently than ordinary soy sauce giving Tamari properties that allow it to retain its integrity when heated. This makes Tamari the perfect flavor enhancer. Since Tamari does not "flash" under high temperatures, it never gives your food an overwhelming salty taste. Instead it heightens the flavors of any dish you are preparing - try it in spaghetti sauce, soups, casseroles and gravies. If you add 1 tsp. of Tamari instead of salt, you will not only benefit from its multiple flavor enhancing properties, but you will also reduce your sodium intake up to 35%.

San-J manufacturers Tamari using traditional Japanese brewing methods handed down through seven generations. San-J products are all-natural with no added MSG or artificial preservatives and are certified kosher."

Well, shucks.  If that doesn't make you want to run and try a bottle, how about this? It's only  $1.99 at Second Chance.

SPEAKING OF ATKINS FRIENDLY...........

Atrkins Brand Pasta Sides are marked down from $4.99 to 99 cents.  That's like 80% off.   Stay low carb for less.  Fettucine Alfredo, Pesto Cream, and Elbows And Cheese are easy to make 10 minute dishes that make two servings per box (or, one serving for me) with a net carb count of 7 carbs/serving.

GOT COOKIES?

Speaking of Frances..........   A couple of years ago, when she attended a soccer tournament Thomas was in, Frances made two big batches of "brickel cookies" made with Heath's bars.  This has now become a tradition, and this year she supplied another two pans of cookies.  The soccer parents all say they're going so they can watch the game, but there's a sneaking suspicion one or two of 'em might have come to get another cookie fix.  In any case, her cookies were the second biggest hit of the tournament, second only to the heart-stopping final game when Thomas's team went 3-3 at the final, and then had a shootout, and the shootout came down to the last kick........  His team (sponsored by Sigma Chi) won by one goal, but just barely.  Had the other team made that last kick..........  Well, it would have been another tie.  And, it almost went in.

The other team, for what it's worth, was a team from Desoto County.  This bunch of little boys played as well as any team I've seen.  Hard charging, never stop, fearless little guys.  Red (Desoto) vs. Green (Starkville) , and Green won.  Hoorah for the home team, but kudos to the Red team for a game well played.
