SECOND CHANCE GROCERY NEWSLETTER APRIL 25,2004

Yes, we still do the newsletter! Things have slowed a wee bit, so here's the next edition.......

GOT MILK? WE DO! (BREAD, TOO)

Enough people have asked "Got any milk?", or "Got any bread?", that Lynn decided to go ahead and add both of those items to her shelves. We can now save you a trip to the Big Store (BS) if all you're needing is a few things plus "milk and bread".

Fresh (not day old) Sunbeam bread and Colonial buns are on the shelves each day, for the same price as a well known, large super discount retailer (white bread is $1.88, Colonial buns, $1.78). Only difference is, there are no long lines, and no problem parking. SCG gets restocked several times each week.

Fresh milk from Luvel is in SCG's newly acquired cooler in the back of the store. This week, the price is LOWER than the well known large BS in town. In addition to cold drinks (Pepsi products are 40 cents each, six-packs for $2.00, no limit), we have white and chocolate milk in several sizes.

BARGAIN PRICED BARGAINS

In the back left corner of the store, there's a buggy marked "Bargain Basket". These are items that SCG is either overstocked on, has only one or two of, or for some other reason, Lynn wants to discount it ........ These items are marked way, way cheap. Some $3.00 items are 25 cents. Check out the Bargain Basket on your next visit, and see what treasures you find!

GET AN ELEVATOR

I had to go by one of the local BS's today to pick up a roast, and noticed a bottle of Kraft Thousand Island dressing for $3.29. SCG has the same bottle for $1.00. Stew meat (the little bits of beef trimmed off and saved, too tough to eat unless cooked forever, traditionally a bargain buy) was $5.29/pound. Yellow bell peppers were $2.29 each. EACH! Some of these prices were so high an elevator will soon be needed to reach them if prices keep rising. All reports are that milk will soon be going up by 75 cents to $1.00 per gallon. This means butter, ice cream, and milk related products will also be going up in price. Chicken wings (wings..... the last part they decided not to throw away at the chicken plant) were $1.00/pound HIGHER than the beef roast I eventually chose.

I don't know what's going on to make BSPs so high, but y'all, planting a garden and buying a few cows is starting to sound like a good idea.

AUNT DELLA DOES IT UP

These little boxes have about 60 cookies each in them, and the boxes sell for only $1.09 each. Aunt Della was Famous Amos's aunt (no kidding), and she was the one who taught Amos how to make cookies. Now, Mr. Wally Amos has dedicated a whole line of his cookies to his aunt, and even has her photo on the back of the box.

These delights come in five varieties Chocolate chip with pecans, chocolate chip, butterscotch chip with pecans, white chocolate chip with macadamia nuts, and oatmeal with raisins.

MINI STROOPWAFELS

Try to imagine thin, crisp waffle sandwiches the size of silver dollars, filled with caramel. These little treats from Holland retail for $4.99 (see http//www.dcimports.com/dastcwa8ctne.html), but SCG sells them for only 69 cents. That's like 85% off. Try one of these with a hot cup of coffee after dinner, and you probably won't need dessert.

NEXT SHIPMENT

The next shipment is this Tuesday, and should start getting on the shelves late Tuesday afternoon.

"But I am not ashamed, for I know the One in Whom I have put my trust, and I am sure that He is able to guard until that day what I have entrusted to Him. Hold to the standard of sound teaching that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. Guard the good treasure entrusted to you, with the help of the Holy Spirit living in us. " 2 Timothy 112-14
