Put A Lid On It

I just went and looked under our kitchen cabinet, at the area where we keep our hodge podge collection of food storage containers. (I hope your's looks better than our's does!) I found an old Dream Whip tub, several whipped margarine tubs, one tub with no lid, several small containers with various ill fitting lids or no lids at all, one good Tupperware bowl with old red spaghetti stains from where it got used in the microwave and the tomato color "took", and one container I really can't identify (*sigh*). We really need to update our kitchen, at least in this area.

I realize this doesn't sound very exciting, but I was looking to see how many new Rubbermaid food containers we need. Seems SCG just received several hundred new Rubbermaid containers of various sizes, shapes, and prices. I'll try to give you a brief overview of what just arrived.

One last thought....... Why we have these containers is beyond us. They're all first quality, not seconds. No damage on any of them. No dents, etc. These are just like what you'd find in the Big Stores, just for a lot less money.

All the Servin' Savers can go staright from the freezer to the microwave, and they are dishwasher safe.

Servin' Saver, 2 Cylinders, 4 oz. each. ($1.50.pair) These are cute as a bug, and usually retail for about $3.00. To see what they look like, and read a review of them, follow this link http//www.epinions.com/content_100708617860

Epinions.com rated these lil darlings at 5 stars (out of a possible 5).

Servin' Saver Plus, one 1.6 qt. tub with lid ($1.50) A nice, round container with a center snap lid.

(Not found on the Rubbermaid website.)

Servin' Saver, 1.8 pt tub with lid ($1.00) A nice, round container with a center snap lid.

(Not found on the Rubbermaid website.)

Servin' Saver, 14 oz. tub with lid ($1.00) A nice, round container with a center snap lid.

(Not found on the Rubbermaid website.)

Lettuce Crisper, 3.4 qt, with bottom plate to keep lettuce off the bottom ($2.50) A nice, round container with a center snap lid. (Not found on the Rubbermaid website.)

Okay, I'm starting to see a pattern here. None of these items are on the Rubbermaid website, and few show up searching products on the 'net. I'm starting to think we have these because they are either (a) discontinued models, or (b) large sets that were broken up for some reason. Rubbermaid has a lot of container sets (quantities of 20 or 30 containers per set, for example), and if one of those gets opened, well......... the containers probably end up with us. Also, many of the containers on the net have green lids, our lids are mostly white or blue.

Servin' Saver, 1.5 qt, round tub with lid ($1.50). A nice, round container with a center snap lid.

(Not found on the Rubbermaid website.)

Servin' Saver, 1.6 pt, round tub etc. ($1.00) It's not on there, either.

Servin Saver, 8 oz, same thing, (.75) Not there, either.

Servin' Saver, flat square with lid ($2.50) Looks just right to hold an 8" pan of brownies.

Servin' Saver, flat square with lid (.75) Just right for holding one fat sandwich.

Seal n' Saver (we just changed products.... whew!), 1.7 qt ($2.50) Sort of a rectangle tub with a cool, blue rimmed lid.

Servin' Saver, flat rectangle with lid, 12 oz ($1.00) Looks like it would hold the last serving of lasagna.

Microwave n. Server, square tub with red vented lid, ($2.25) This is cool. It has a bright red lid with a vent in the top, sort of like the rubber vent in a pressure cooker. When the steam builds up in the tub in the microwave, the vent opens to prevent it popping open.

Ice Cube Bin. Really. Holds 4 ice trays worth of cubes. Replace the one that came with your fridge with a fresh, new white one! It's $1.50.

This is just a sample of the Rubbermaid products in stock. Feel free to drop by and see how much you can save making your lunch and your leftovers look better. While you're there, please join us for a cup of coffee, and see what's new. Our next shipment arrives Thursday (hey.... that's tomorrow!).
